What would a 21st century Republic of Letters look like? Does it already exist? Web design clearly has the ability to facilitate certain types of discussion, as in the twitter word limit. What then, would a website dedicated to the concept of a new Republic of Letters look like: somewhere between JSTOR and Twitter? How can web design be used to encourage elevated forms of discussion/dialogue?

Highly recommend Heisig's book Philosophers of Nothingness as an introduction to the Kyoto School.
